Not long after The Twilight Saga concluded, Summit Entertainment geared up for its next young adult franchise: Ender’s Game. Based on the Orson Scott Card novel of the same name, Ender’s Game was envisioned as the first in a series of new sci-fi films—after all, there’s a ton of written material to draw from—but the series got canned long before its completion. Here’s why we never got to see an Ender’s Game sequel…

What other would-be sequels would you like to hear about next?
I enjoyed the movie, never read the books. But young adult movies like this are always just a flash in the pan every decade or so. One generation loves them, next generation hates them. Now people are starting to hate them and the genre is going into hibernation. Did it deserve a sequel? No.
Prolly because they butchered the first one
Orson Scott Cards novels have always been my favorite, and they are certainly not young adult novels. They're fairly complex and in depth, and explore a lot of material that most young adults would fail to grasp. They're not necessarily profound, but they certainly have more substance than those god awful YA novels. Card is a brilliant writer, regardless of his political views. This movie was…disappointing, for fans of the novels. I'm glad they didn't make another one, because they were forced to skim over a lot of important materials from the novels.
not only did it suck but enders shadow would have been a better movie
I loved that movie so much and I still remember seeing it for the 1st time and it really sucks that we’re not going to get a sequel in the near future
It also wasn't good.
Uh.. Because the movie was so terrible. Could the movie be done well? Sure. But it was not done well at all.
……….. Which sequel are you even talking about? Ender's Shadow or the following book since the first book is almost Ender's Game from a different point of view? or Speaker of the Dead or the inbetween, Ender in Exile? Cuz they don't really need most of the chacters, except Ender in Exile…though I can't remember his age in the Exile book.
2017 movie trailers
The book was better.
It was the cliff's notes version of a short book to begin with. Didn't explain that the kids developed all the programs/tools to enable fleet management. or how they adapted the wargame lessons into the fleet tactics. just bad adaptation.
This is such a shame. Enders Game is one of my top favorite modern day films and I wish for Christmas for a sequel :/
HBO Enders series would be pretty cool.
I thought the movie was pretty good. Filming it like a young adult movie kinda ruined it a bit, but when you try to take the movie more seriously, the ramifications of the ending, you realize it could have been aimed at a more mature audience if they marketed it right.
Because child action heroes are generally terrible
Because the second book sucks
Loved the book, which is why I hated the movie. Rushed plot endings, skipping over major character development and leaving out massive vital story bits.
the movie sucked….thats why
I read the book
As someone who read and is a fan of ALL the Ender's Game books, I was disappointed with the movie.
Mainly it was just a shitty and boring film
I think it was a good movie though
Because the film was trash. Period. Next video.
OR maybe it just wasnt a good movie?
I actually liked this movie
Orson Scott Card is a shitweevil.
I boycotted it because the trailer spoiled a big part of the plot.
cuz it sucked
because it was bad? For anyone that has read the book they would agree.
for anyone who hasnt read the books HE ISNT A KID IN BOOK 2 ITS A COPMLETE CHANGE OF TONE AND THEME FROM THE FIRST, AND IT WOULD NOT MAKE A GOOD MOVIE
i blame one thing
reality tv
this was a pretty great concept
if only this would have gone as long as hunger games we woulda seen something special
…is this voiced over by Dexter Manning?
Quick answer : They fucked up the first book something awful, and totally killed the next movie by having Valentine stay behind.
Because the movie was horrible.
Visually stunning, but just chopped to pieces story wise
not like others in kid movie, this Ender character is more sophisticated and subtle.
personally i think enders game would be better as a tv series that it was as a movies as they would not be ass rushed
Loved this movie. Card is an excellent author as well. People boycott movies for the stupidest reasons…it doesn't matter what the guys views are since that didn't make it into the movie.
I was named after ender
Can we be honest right now…..its not anything outside the film being horribly made and basically shit. it didnt follow anywhere near close enough to the source material. The book was wonderful and popular in mant places including being on the Marine Corps reading list.
The movie needed to be made inn the same regard as the hobbit (3 movies). The peter/valentine story arch was ommitted completely. The giants goblet game was poorly translated. They through in a senseless bullshit love interest in petra (which ruins speaker for the dead since thats his first love interest and occurs when hes like 40). Worm is introduced on the same plane ride and the nearly decade story arch is shortened to basically a few months. If this movie is to be remade fire the writers and produces and make the actual damn movie.
This was an amazing movie…..
Because the next few books got weird, like really weird. But I still liked them!
Its hollywood, but its pretty sad when politics control art
Cause they made a shitshow of the movie. Sorry, but as a long time fan of the novels, it was total garbage.
Orson Scott supports traditional marriage? Cool I didnt know that I want to support him more now
Only movie I felt should have actually been 2 movies.
I fucking loved this movie. They NEED to make a sequel.
