Game of Thrones veteran Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) and Will Ferrell teamed up lately for an epic commercial crossover, bringing Audi and GM together during the Super Bowl.
Some setup: Apparently, GM doesn’t sell EVs (electric vehicles) in Norway, but Audi has a huge presence there. So when Will Ferrell and GM decided to challenge the country of Norway (and by extension, Audi) over EVs, Audi just had to respond. And naturally, Norway couldn’t think of anyone better to represent it that Kristofer Hivju, a Viking through and through.
The commercials have a call-and response thing going. First, we find Ferrell reading the “history” of Norway, finding it lacking, and Hivju taking none too kindly to the appraisal. In the end he slaps himself in the face with a salmon. It’s worth watching to the end:
Will Ferrell’s response to this? Order five million pizzas with anchovies and send them to Norway. Hivju, or rather, Olaf, will pick up the bill.
But Kristofer Hivju’s Olaf isn’t upset about the price. He’s crestfallen over the toppings. And once again the salmon comes up:
Very strange, but I’m here for it, whatever it is.
Also in Game of Thrones celebrity news: Pedro Pascal, Gemma Whelan and Emilia Clarke all do stuff
In other news, Pedro Pascal (Prince Oberyn) is ranting and raving about a fan’s drawing of his visual resume. The fan art depicts some of his most memorable and well-known characters, from Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Wonder Woman 1984, Narcos, The Mandalorian and of course, Game of Thrones:
You can now hear Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) narrate The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse. Snag your audio copy on Amazon now! And listen to a preview of the audiobook below:
Moving on, our very own Queen of Dragons, Emilia Clarke, has lent her support to CLARE’S Wish Foundation, a charity very much like the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The charity recently fulfilled the wish of a 27-year-old Game of Thrones fan struggling with muscular dystrophy by getting him a message from Clarke herself, who imparted some heartfelt words:
Having gone through her own medical struggles and surviving two brain hemorrhages while filming Game of Thrones, Clarke started her own charity, SameYou, which seeks “to raise funds and help increase neurorehabilitation access after brain injury and stroke.”
And if you didn’t love Clarke more than you already do, here’s a cute picture of her and her dog to top it all off:
Until next time, folks.
