Ellie Kendrick has revealed how she still doesn’t know if she’ll return as Meera Reed in Game Of Thrones season eight.
The 27-year-old actress joined the show way back in season three, having helped escort Bran Stark in his journey to become the Three-Eyed Raven against icy elements and the occasional Wight.
In season seven, Meera was last seen returning to Greywater Watch after bringing Bran to Winterfell, unleashing rage as Bran said a mere ‘thank you’ for his safe delivery after losing brother Jojen and Hodor during the journey.
There’s a bunch of theories circulating how House Reed could play an important part of the final season, but it seems Ellie still isn’t clear if she’s returning for the show’s final bow.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about appearing in the final season, Ellie said: ‘Not as far as I know. I don’t know. It’s funny because I always get asked, “What’s going to happen? Are you in it?” Genuinely the truth is I don’t know.
‘I wait for the phone to ring and then I find out, but it hasn’t rung so I don’t know. I’ll find out whether I am or not at some point, but for now I haven’t been notified so I’m yet to discover.’
While Ellie was sad to part ways with actor Isaac Hempstead Wright in the seventh season, she’s glad her days of dragging Bran across the snow are over.
‘It was really sad on a personal level, because we had a little gang which dwindled further and further as the seasons went on,’ Ellie says.
‘It was a sad day to say farewell to young Isaac – not so young now and also very tall, which means he was so difficult to put on the sled, which I actually did, although he’s a lot taller than me.
‘So while I was sad to say farewell, I was also slightly relieved for my spine because I no longer have to be dragging him across any wintered land.
‘I genuinely did drag him. Not all the time, because in really wide shots there was a dummy version of him. But I did a lot of dragging. No dragon, just a lot of dragging. I got a very strong back by the end of it.’
As we barrel towards the final season, does she have any hopes from a fan perspective of what’s to come?
‘Absolutely no idea what’s going to happen,’ Ellie adds.
‘All I can hope for is Meera is going to come back on a dragon and be the new queen. That’d be pretty sweet for me. But somehow, not quite sure that’s how it’s going to turn out.’
Game Of Thrones season 8 is expected to release in 2019.
