2. – How long have you been making movies?
I’ve been making movies since high school, in 2008.

3. – Favorite horror film?
My favorite all time horror film is The Shining.
My favorite recent horror film is Green Room. For its entire hour and a half running time, it’s almost unbearably tense. After seeing so many horror films, having one really surprise you is impressive. You never know what terrible thing is going to happen next, and as the leader of the neo-Nazi antagonists, Patrick Stewart is a surprising choice and all the more menacing for it.

4. – Who is a filmmaker you admire?
The director of Green Room, Jeremy Saulnier, is an incredible filmmaker. His first feature, Murder Party, is a testament to his ability of making unique, entertaining horror films on a tiny budget. His next two features, Blue Ruin and Green Room, saw him working with increased means, but he did not lose his creative and chaotic spirit in the process. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

5. – Why did you get into making horror movies?
I’m a huge fan of both horror and comedy, and my writing just naturally gravitates towards a mixture of the two. I love horror comedies because they don’t take themselves too seriously; they’re inherently fun. Movies like The Evil Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and You’re Next all capture a fun, energetic style of filmmaking that I am very inspired by. Even many of the more serious horror films have a subtle tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. I believe a good horror film can recognize how absurd it is, and use that to its advantage.

6. – If you could remake any horror movie, which would it be?
If I could remake any horror movie, it would be the great Troll 2. Considering how deeply silly it is, it actually has some elements that are pretty horrific. I would want to maintain the goofy sense of humor, but play up what makes it scary.

7. – Do you have anything new you’d like to promote or do you have anything in development currently?
The most recent short film I completed is stuck dans la boue, which can be seen here: It’s not exactly a horror film, but more of a supernatural romance story.
Beyond this, I’m working on a series called Fancy Drew, who’s America’s leading teen queen detective. He’s basically a more modern Nancy Drew, or a gayer Veronica Mars.

8. – What is it about WOD that appealed to you when you joined its community?
I love independent/micro-budget filmmaking, especially with horror films. WOD is a community full of horror movie lovers and independent filmmakers, so it seems like a match made in heaven.
