Of all the characters in Game Of Thrones to endure such extreme reactions from the fans, it has to be Jaime Lannister.
He started out as an arrogant, yet gifted swordsman, the firstborn son of the mighty Tywin Lannister and therefore heir to the Lannister name. However, as the seasons wore on, this once one-dimensional character was fully brought forward as a rounded and interesting character. His past indiscretions, for which he was known in Westeros twice over, never took into account the full story of Jaime Lannister’s motivation for his actions and his entire reputation was built on a certain point of view.
It’s fair to say that by the end of the series, he was one of the most beloved characters, incredible when you remember where he started in the eyes of the audience.
As a person, he was as all were in Game Of Thrones, complex. He had his sickening faults, as well as his incredibly strong values, ones that would eventually see him disavow his post and the woman he loved to fight for the greater good.
