Game of Thrones fansite Watchers on the Wall has uncovered information about a new face we’ll be seeing come season 8: according to her agency CV, young actress Bronte Carmichael has joined the cast of the show. She’ll play a girl named Martha, and will appear in an episode (episodes?) directed by Miguel Sapochnik.

Here’s Bronte being the cutest alongside Ewan McGregor in Christopher Robin, Disney’s upcoming Winnie the Pooh update:

Incidentally, experts confirm that the trailer for Christopher Robin is also the cutest, as a whole.

Carmichael is no small-time child actress. In addition to playing Madeline Robin for Disney, she’s had roles in movies like On Chesil Beach and the Oscar-winning Darkest Hour. She’ll also appear in Syfy’s Nightflyers series, which coincidentally enough is based on a different George R.R. Martin story. As befits an actress of her pedigree, Carmichael will not be an extra on Game of Thrones, but rather will have a proper role. Watchers figures she’ll be playing the role of “Northern Girl” we heard about last year:

  • This character is 8-10 years old, was brought up in a family of soldiers, and displays “dauntlessness and integrity.” The role is said to be “very nice stand-out part for a strong-minded young girl with a fighting spirit.”

She and Lyanna Mormont will probably get along famously.

Miguel Sapochnik is directing the third and fifth episodes of Game of Thrones season 8, and if his past catalog is any indication (he directed classics like “Hardhome,” “Battle of the Bastards,” and “The Winds of Winter”), they will bring the heat — lord knows what we’ve seen of on-set filming has been intense enough. We’re not sure if Martha will appear in both of Sapochnik’s episodes or only one, but either way, she’s going to go through it.
