“First lesson, stick them with the pointy end.”
As it turns out, Jon does know a thing or two. After weeks of matchups that pit him against half of his family, Jon Snow has emerged as your 2018 Game of Thrones March Madness champion!
Jon faced a stiff challenge in the finals when he squared off against Tyrion Lannister, but came out on top by a comfortable margin. With 2,401 votes collected, Jon beat Tyrion by 281. Not bad for a bastard secret Targaryen.
Jon’s path started out easy when he took down Beric Dondarrion, but the path got rougher from there. Future rounds saw him defeating former lover Ygritte and half-siblings Bran, Arya and Sansa Stark en route to the championship round. Jeez Jon, we thought family was important to you.
For Tyrion, this was the second time he’d made it all the way to the championship round before being bested, although losing out to Jon wasn’t quite the shock that losing to Littlefinger was last year. But we doubt that’s any consolation to Tyrion’s fans. Maybe next year…
Outside of our two finalists, Missandei and Samwell Tarly had perhaps the strongest showings. Before being ousted by her bff, Missandei eliminated Catelyn Stark and Joffrey Baratheonwhereas Sam took out a trio of fan favorites in Oberyn Martell, Cersei Lannister and Robb Stark. Good job, Cinderellas!
We hope everyone enjoyed playing and returns for next year’s March Madness tournament. Thanks for voting!
