THE LIST:
Mad Max: Fury Road: One fight scene seamlessly involves almost the entire cast of characters.
The Raid: Redemption: A stealthy incursion goes south in a hurry with ruthlessly efficient visual story telling.
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Let’s talk about our “Pyramid of Action” with the Battle of Helm’s Deep.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Just so much to talk about with this movie, especially this character driven duel.
The Bourne Ultimatum: Shaky camera and fast cuts can be just as effective as clean efficiency as seen in this close quarters fist fight.

5 MORE Brilliant Moments In Film
Lol Push Inny-ness
Okay, I get it, I should go watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Hey doubt you guys are gonna see this but I'd love to see your opinion on how action is presented in daredevil season one
The individual fight scenes in the Bourne series were brilliant, gritty and realistic. Espc in the first two entries. Similar fight scene was at the end of the first Lethal Weapon movie w/ Gibson vs Busey.
The Daredevil hallway scene should be mentioned
I honestly reckon your examination of that scene from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is just as worth watching for the layman as the scene itself. Watching the scene you can say it's one of the best fight scenes you've ever seen, but watching your breakdown of it you can say WHY.
An idea for a list from an Aussie Filmmaker: Top 5 best moments in Australian Film. Would work well for a list because all Australian Films have these motifs that make them Aussie, and you can compare and contrast these for a list.
To be fair I think if Australia ever wants to be more than just the place where Americans come to make their films, we need to start to tell stories that aren't only our own.
Bringing it full circle with no pretence for a segway, Love your work guys. Never stop the lists coming.
NO FUCKING SHAKING CAM! PERIOD.
You missed out on saving private ryan – the Tiger tanks were the (non-cheesy) enemy characters. Like how we don't know exactly how the Tiger Tank got around the flank of our heroes, we don't know exactly the struggle of bringing the bombs through the heat of battle in lotr, etc.
Mamby Pamby looms in my vernacular as well. I try not to use it NOT because it doesn't describe a situation perfectly, but because it will be dismissed as "crotchety." 😉
You had one job, Legolas. ONE fucking job!
I really want to watch Crouching tiger hidden dragon now :O
The problem with Jackson and the Two Towers is that the main epic battle is halted each time with the slow paced storyline of the Ents. Intense action interrupted by slow-talking trees… Could've been edited/directed better.
Children of men babyy the car scene or the battle in the slums
13 assassins also had amazing fighting scenes one on one and group
May I suggest the first smallsword duel in "The Duelist"?
Dude that's not Stone Cold Steve Austin, That's Nathan Jones!!!
Didnt mention how john wick uses real gun mag sizes and how he acts like a real person in where he aims and such but whatevs
Good/Great 4th Installments:
# Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire
# Mad Max: Fury Road
# Scream 4
# Thunderball
# Rocky IV
# The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
# X-Men First Class – 'Yes, it IS a 4th Installment as it feeds into the stories, character arc's, etc set up in the OG X-Men Trilogy..unlike Origins Wolverine, where it starts off a NEW Trilogy centered around the character of Wolverine'
I wonder what they think of Atomic Blonde, I loved the action in it.
Just wondering if anyone mentioned the final battle scene in "Flashpoint" (Hong Kong film) where Donnie Yen battled Collin Chou. I think it is so far the best fight that emphasized on mixed martial art.
You are good, man
one of my favorite action sequences isn't even from a movie, it's the hallway fight scene from the second episode of Daredevil… the fact that the director keeps that entire fight engaging despite it consisting of a single long camera shot of a hallway is a testament to excellent choreography
This vid got my subscription. Excellent break downs.
Stone cold Steve Austin lmfao?! I'm gonna assume you actually know who that is and just called him that because he's bold LOL
By far the best YouTube-Channel.
shaky cam can eat a bag of d*#ks, i hate that stuff
The raid movies r sooo underrated
