Playing a Targaryen prince comes with plenty of perks. Wearing impressive armor, riding horses, and looking like Westerosi royalty are certainly among them. But according to Finn Bennett, there was one downside fans probably never considered.
Going to the bathroom.
During a fan Q&A with Cynosure Magazine, the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star revealed that Aerion Brightflame’s elaborate costume was so restrictive that even the simplest tasks became an ordeal, which is also why fans shouldn’t expect a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes photos from him.
Quick read:
- Finn Bennett has no behind-the-scenes photo dump.
- Aerion’s armor made basic tasks difficult.
- The actor says bathroom breaks were a nightmare.
Aerion’s costume left little room for selfies
During the fan Q&A, a fan named Serena asked Bennett whether viewers would ever get a behind-the-scenes photo dump from the set of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
The actor’s answer was immediate.

“I’m really sorry Serena, there is none… it just doesn’t exist.”
While many productions are filled with cast selfies and candid moments, Bennett explained that his costume made using a phone incredibly difficult.
The armor made everyday life surprisingly difficult
Bennett went on to reveal just how cumbersome Aerion’s armor was throughout filming.
“And mostly the reason for that is because I had thick armor gloves on and I had these fucking like gauntlets that had like nails on them.”
Then came the detail that had fans laughing.
“Literally going to the toilet was a nightmare, forget about the photo dump.”
He ended his response by apologizing once again to the fan who asked the question.
“I’m really sorry Serena, I hope that answers your question.”
It’s a funny reminder that while fantasy costumes may look incredible on screen, they’re often far less glamorous behind the scenes. For Bennett, it sounds like surviving a bathroom break in Aerion’s armor was challenge enough, let alone stopping to take photos.
