Lighting Matches in Vacuum Chamber with Laser

In this video i’m trying to light some small and large matches in my Vacuum Chamber.

I’m using a 3.5Watt Arctic Spyder Laser from wickedlasers.com in this video.

Warning : This laser is NOT a toy and should not be used as a toy either! Never point such powerfull laser to someone and never use them without safety goggles !

  2. The smoke is purely from the heat of the laser on the match. As dry as they are matches st ill contain moisture and air which is partly why there was smoke. The matches were still burning with the help of the heat of the laser, they just were not able to catch a light. You could almost say the laser was replacing the oxygen, without oxygen match doesnt burn, without laser match doesnt burn.

  4. Seeing all these people come up with explanations while they don't have any proper understanding of what chemical reactions actually are… Please, acknowledge your lack of knowledge, and include something like 'but I'm not sure' in your hypotheses, instead of making statements about what happened with certainty.
