Aemond’s bond with Alicent
In his interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Mitchell explained that Aemond’s trust in Alicent comes from both love and gratitude. He reflected on how Aemond’s role evolved after Season 2 and why his mother remained central to his decisions:
“I think Aemond you know, coming off the back of season 2, kind of assuming the role of as the leader of the team green. He very much wants to kind of show that he can look after the team and really provide. Be the provider, be the daddy. He’s always loved his mom. And you know, granted he has a very peculiar way of showing it.
But he’s always wanted the best for her, you know? He’ll never forget that she stood up for him during an eye for an eye scene in season 1. And he wants to reciprocate that love to an extent and provide.”
