  1. He should have allied with the Starks. Even if he was lucky enough to have the entire greyjoy army support him, he would have failed, making his decline written in stone. He should have allied with Robb and hold winterfell with Brann in a joint leadership so he wouldve avoided the Red Wedding and built up his rank, reputation and honour as he survived making him more powerful than the rest of his whole house

  2. As a books reader, I don't hate him so much. First off, in the books he didn't kill ser Rodrick. Ser Rodrick died while trying to liberate Winterfell, and they would've won if Theon's ''loyal'' friend Rhamsey hasn't returned and suddenly attacked people from the North who tried to liberate Winterfell. Then Theon opened the gates for him and his people, learned his identity, got knocked out and imprisoned, and Winterfell burned to the ground.
However, Theon definitelly wanted to kill Bran and Rickon in the books, so If they haven't escaped, they would've been executed.
But, since those chapters in the second book were written from his perspective, you can see the kind of feelings he feels. He almost feels torn apart. Angry. So his actions are kinda understandable.

  3. This really made me hate Theon with a passion. Maybe you all with not agree with me, but for the stupid shit he pulled, he deserved that horrible fate. The Starks really did treat him like family, so what does he do? Stabs his brother in the back the first chance he gets.
