GAME Of Thrones fans got to see one of the show’s stars in a different light as actor Daniel Portman took part in a martial arts class.
The actor – who plays beloved squire Podrick Payne – showed off his bulging biceps as he grappled around in a mixed martial arts masterclass with UFC commentator and analyst Dan Hardy.
The 25-year-old actor proved he is nothing like his quiet character as he revealed just how well he would be able to defend himself in combat.
Daniel is a huge fan of MMA and took to the mats at Fight City Gym in London for a special striking and grappling session.
The session involved the 25 year-old actor from Glasgow taking part in a series of drills, as well as taking direction from Hardy who shared a host of demonstrations and techniques.
After the session, Hardy was quick to present Portman with a series of fantasy match-ups.
He asked who would finish victorious in a battle between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and Game of Thrones heartthrob Jon Snow.
Daniel replied: “The two poster boys! I’m going to say Conor McGregor…..but with swords, it’s a different story!”
Meanwhile it has been revealed there are five Game Of Thrones prequels in the works.
HBO boss Richard Plepler says he’s already read two early outlines and the CEO admitted he was “excited about what I’ve seen”.
Speaking at the Mipcom entertainment trade show in Cannes, he told Variety: “It’s a fantastic group of writers and talent, most of whom have lived inside the Thrones eco-system so are very, very familiar with its intricacies.
“I think we will find with this embarrassment of [writing] riches an exciting property for us to moves forward with.
The series currently has five prequels in development, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Creator George R R Martin is said to be “closely involved” with three of them, although it’s not known how many – if any – will make it to pilot stage.
The last series of the show will air either next year or 2019 and is currently filming with the cast recently spotted in Northern Ireland for a table read.
However, even they don’t yet know how the show ends.
HBO Head Of Programming Casey Bloys said that the cast would not be told the outcome and suggested that different endings would be filmed to prevent leaks.
He said: “I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens.”
He added: “You have to do that on a long show.
“Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”
