Ed Sheeran has spoken about the fate of his character in Game Of Thrones, and the future isn’t looking bright for token Lannister soldier #1.
Great British Bake Off dishes up a record audience for Channel 4’s 35-year history
The 26-year-old musician felt the wrath of GOT fans after appearing in the season seven premiere, where he played a Lannister grunt around a campfire alongside Arya Stark.
The cameo itself led to a wealth of criticism, with many believing he even left Twitter over the debacle, but for the small group perhaps hoping for a return – Ed has flushed your dreams into the abyss.
Speaking to MTV News, Ed said: ‘We were all quite young, those soldiers. I doubt I’m going to survive for that long, to be honest, when there are dragons in the world.
‘No-one wants to see me come back. I wanted to be a cameo in it, and I’ve done the cameo. I’m cool with it, though. I enjoyed it.’
But what about the theory where Ed Sheeran claims the Iron Throne by performing Galway Girl until Cersei explodes into shamrocks? We’re sure that was in one of Samwell’s books.
Ed’s cameo came about at the request of Maisie Williams who is a massive fan of the star, so you’ll probably have to direct anger her way if you had a problem with Sheeran’s soldier.
Or, you know, just blame Hot Pie for everything.
The director of the episode also defended his cameo following the show’s airing, saying how it was ‘appropriate because he needed to sing’.
