Northern Ireland has been abuzz with Game of Thrones production activity of late, with big things going down at the Winterfell set in Moneyglass and a huge green screen being erected at Magheramorne Quarry. But the most ambitious set is still being built at Titanic Studios in Belfast, where the crew is hard at work building a sizable section of King’s Landing brick by brick.

Twitter’s own @GoTlikeLocation has been a great source of photos of this set, and it shared a new one just the other day. Take a close look at a close-up of the two towers being constructed near the front of the set:

We first caught a glimpse of these towers roughly two weeks ago, and they’ve already come a long way since then. @GoTlikeLocation wonders about the contrast in color between different sections of the tower, with some dark grey and some lighter and brighter:

Hmm. What do you guys think about it? Are the stones a lighter color because they’ve been touched by dragonfire? We saw in up-close photos taken by the Stira Folding Attic Stairs company that there seems to be a breach in the gate between the two towers, and a dragon could very well be responsible:

Whatever the team plans to use them for, the amount of detail work in these towers is astounding. The same goes for another tower standing not far away:

This tower also has a lighter hue — notice the stained look the stone has around the window, spreading out to the edges of the tower wall. We’ll just file that observation away for later.

All this and there hasn’t even been any substantial filming activity at this set that we can see. They have to finish building it first. Stay tuned.
