Emilia Clarke has paid an emotional farewell to Game Of Thrones after finishing filming on the eighth and final season.

The 31-year-old actress, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, became all pensive after wedging herself in a flowery bush – the go-to location for anyone indebted to a show for their superstardom.

Taking to Instagram, Emilia wrote: ‘Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade.

‘It’s been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing.’

Recent attention has surrounded the planned spin-offs, with HBO releasing the first details of an untitled series from George RR Martin and Kick Ass screenwriter Jane Goldman.

The show will take place ‘thousands of years’ before the events of Game Of Thrones, and will show the descent from the Age Of Heroes into its ‘darkest hour’.
