While we’re absolutely fawning over the nuptials of Jon Snow and Ygritte, we’re loving the Game of Thrones reunion that happened with guests including the HBO cast.
As Kit Harington and Rose Leslie tied the knot in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, yesterday, a whole cast of actors (see what we did there) got gussied up for the celebrations.
It was earlier alleged filming would either be shut down or wrapped up in time for the wedding, with Kit saying he told bosses everyone needed to be there.
He said: ‘I rang up [the producer] and I said, “I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually”… I think for the final season he is so stressed that he’s reached that peaceful level.
‘I was like, “You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.” They have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.’
And while there were a lot of his comrades in tow – we’re talking Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), to name but a few – we couldn’t help but notice there were a lot who couldn’t make it.
And that gives us a sad face.
Let us note that perhaps this crew was indeed meshed into the crowd and if so we must learn their ways of invisibility – it must be applauded.
Lena Headey – Cercei Lannister – didn’t appear to be able to make it as she seemed to be advocating for refugees and posting a year on since the women of Saudi Arabia were given the right to drive.
While Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played Ser Jaime Lannister appeared to be in Bordeaux as he shared some ~arty snaps~ from the French city on his Instagram.
Still, sure, isn’t that far from Aberdeenshire, so he could have ducked in for some marzipan at the reception…
Jon’s ‘father’ Ned Stark wasn’t there either…we mean Sean Bean – Sean Bean wasn’t there.
However, the actor appeared to currently be filming two separate projects, Watch The Skies and Curfew, which doesn’t leave him much time to hop to a wedding.
Gwendoline Christie was sitting front and centre for Dior Homme at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, which means Brienne of Tarth couldn’t cheer on the boy who knows nothing.
Isaac Hempstead Wright, Bran Stark, was also missing (don’t even get us started on Hodor).
Alfie Allen, who played ‘brother’ Theon Greyjoy, who’d returned to Winterfell with Sansa, seemed to be filming Jojo Rabbit and wasn’t throwing flower petals all over his mate.
Rose’s character Ygritte’s fellow wildling Kristofer Hivju didn’t appear to be able to make it, either, neither did Natalie Dormer who played Margaery Tyrell.
But you know what – there was enough GoT love to go around as a church of stars gathered to throw rose petals and cheer at the newlyweds.
Other cast members who were suited and booted for festivities included Richard Madden (Robb Stark) John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Joe Dempsie (Gendry), Conleth Hill(Lord Varys), Ben Crompton (Eddison Tollett), and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth).
And, hey, let’s just be darn chuffed there was no red wedding.
It still gets us.
