Get ready to return to the magical world of Thra. Netflix has released a bunch of into about its upcoming series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel to Jim Henson’s 1982 cult classic that used then-groundbreaking animatronics to bring its characters to life.
Entertainment Weekly has the scoop. “The world of Thra is dying,” reads the synopsis. “The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.”
Netflix has assembled quite the voice cast for this 10-episode series. The leads actors are Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandai from Game of Thrones) as Deet, Taron Egerton (the Kingsman movies) as Rian, and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Brea, our trio of Gelfling heroes. For the supporting cast, Netflix has pulled out all the stops:

Netflix is clearly willing to break the bank on this one; maybe some executive grew up with the original movie. Netflix vice president of original series Cindy Holland explained why Age of Resistance needed such a deep talent pool:
To match the stunning visual world of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, we knew we had to entice some incredible voice talent to add dimension to the exquisite artistry of the puppeteers who bring the characters to life. I am proud to say that this may be one of the finest casts assembled from the world’s favorite TV shows and movies, and I am now even more excited for fans to come back to Thra with us, and for new viewers to discover this world for the very first time.
