Lena Headey revealed she broke through the stone exterior of Cersei Lanniser and got ‘really emotional’ during her final day on the Game of Thrones set.
Perfectly understandable, when Lena has starred as the biggest bitch in Westeros for more than eight years.
But despite Cersei’s shameful journey through the course of Game of Thrones, the 45-year-old is, bizarrely, still rooting for the ruler of House Lannister and opened up about the behind-the-scenes mood filming season eight of the fantasy epic on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
‘Someone has to [root for her],’ she grinned.
Reflecting on her last scene, Lena told Jimmy: ‘I knew that David (Benioff) and Dan (Weiss), our creators, were doing speeches and giving everybody these drawings of the storyboards.
‘And I suddenly got really emotional at the end and tried to head down the stairs. They all rushed up and trapped me. And then they gave the speech, and it was really moving.’
The British-born actress also confessed she always darted straight to the end of her Game of Thrones scripts to discover Cersei’s fate, because of course you would.
‘They usually give us all of them, and if anyone says they don’t flip to the end, they’re lying,’ she promised.
The countdown has officially begun for Game of Thrones season eight. Earlier this month, HBO rang in the New Year by confirming the final chapter’s release date with a new teaser of Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya all exploring the Stark crypt.
Naturally, all hell broke loose among the fandom with wild theories from Bran Stark being the Night King, to the Stark ghosts rising from the dead pouring through the internet.
Actually, it meant nothing because Sophie Turner confirmed the footage is a sham.
Game of Thrones season eight returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.
