Would like to see how a lot of these recast characters were portrayed by their original cast members, and how the actors who stayed on performed in their first shoots of the role.
Idk about the acting chops, but looks whise Tamzin Merchant resembles a Targaryen waaaaay more than Emilia. Just by looking at drawings of Visenya and other female Targaryens, her face structure fits more into the descriptions of Targaryens. Emilia looks interesting in GoT bc of the white wig, she is pretty yes but as herself she seems to have that girl next door type of vibe. Tamzin is a bit odd looking too (very thin, pale af, cheekbones, kind of like Harry Lloyd did. His cheekbones and jawline could cut a bitch. which is a common thing for Targaryens in their descriptions and drawings. There's a b&w picture on google of Tamzin and she there strongly resembles Visenya and Rhaenys from the official drawings.
Cat was suppose to be attractive in the books – they mad her old and wrinkly in the show..

Emilia Clarke is pretty good as Daenerys, but I would have been fascinated to see what Tamzin Merchant was like
in the role…

emilia clarke is great, but this daenerys looks more like what i magine in the books.. she looks more sharp and fierce.. less fragile

I would like to see the pilot episode…interested to see how Tamzin played Daenerys. I saw her act in Tudors and she wasn't very likeable, but then again, neither was her character. So I guess she acted well to fit that role.
I hope they release the pilot one day.

I like Jennifer Ehle, but her choice to drop out of the show making way for Michelle Fairley was a great piece of luck: Fairley was really, really sensational. Made the RW REALLY sting.
