Arya Stark might have hinted at her epic journey in the past (Picture: HBO)

Warning: Article contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones season eight

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was last seen boarding a ship to go exploring west of Westeros in the Game Of Thrones season eight finale.

Her decision not to return to Winterfell came as a surprise to her sister Sansa (Sophie Turner), and brothers Bran (Issac Hempstead Wright) and Jon (Kit Harington), and to many viewers too.

But Arya signposted where she would end up way back in season six – but of course we didn’t realise the significance of it then.

The moment, flagged by a keen viewer on Reddit, took place in episode eight, No One, when Arya is helped by Braavosi theatre actress Lady Crane (Essie Davis) after being stabbed by the Waif.

Lady Crane helps her to heal and gives her somewhere to rest, before inviting her to join the travelling theatre company on their journey to Pentos.

Arya declines, claiming she wouldn’t be a good actress, and when asked where she will go instead, she replies: ‘Essos is east and Westeros is west, but what’s west of Westeros?’

‘I don’t know,’ Lady Crane replies.

Arya says: ‘Nobody does. That’s where all the maps stop.’

When Lady Crane suggests that she will find ‘the edge of the world’, Arya says: ‘I’d like to see that.’

So that might be where she ends up on her travels, as seen in the last ever episode.

Meanwhile Bran was chosen as the new ruler of the Seven Kingdoms after was Jon was banished to the Night’s Watch, and Sansa became the queen in the North, ruling over the independent kingdom.

The episode also saw the death of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who was killed by Jon as he feared she would not be a suitable ruler.

Game Of Thrones is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
