Fans of House of the Dragon were surprised this week when Milly Alcock appeared to remove most of her Supergirl-related Instagram posts. The move came months after the DC film underperformed at the global box office, immediately sparking speculation about Alcock’s future as Kara Zor-El. While neither the actress nor DC Studios has commented on the deletions, the internet is already buzzing with theories.

Quick read:

  • Milly Alcock removed most Supergirl posts.
  • Fans noticed the change on Instagram.
  • DC Studios has not commented publicly.

Fans noticed several major Supergirl posts had vanished

According to multiple reports, Alcock removed numerous posts connected to Supergirl, including her original casting announcement from January 2024. In that now-deleted post, she thanked James Gunn for entrusting her with the role of Kara Zor-El.

Reports also note that a photo of Alcock holding a copy of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the comic that inspired the film, is no longer visible on her Instagram grid. Images featuring her in costume were reportedly removed as well.

However, fans were quick to point out that not everything related to the character disappeared. Several Supergirl-related videos reportedly remain in her Reels section, and a Vogue promotional post connected to the film is still visible on her account.

Most importantly, Alcock has not publicly explained why she removed the posts.

The timing comes after Supergirl struggled at the box office

The deletions have drawn attention largely because they follow a disappointing theatrical run for Supergirl.

Reports state that the film finished its box office run with approximately $126 million worldwide against a reported production budget of roughly $170-$180 million, making it one of the year’s biggest financial disappointments.

Despite online speculation, there’s currently no verified indication that Alcock is leaving the DC Universe. Several outlets note that she is still expected to appear in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow, scheduled for 2027.

For now, all anyone can say with certainty is that the posts are gone. Whether the cleanup reflects simple social media housekeeping, a personal preference, or something more significant remains unknown until Alcock or DC Studios addresses it publicly.
