Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are reteaming for roles in Kenneth Branagh’s next Agatha Christie adaptation, Death on the Nile.

The film, due to be released in October next year, features an all-star cast that also includes Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name).

Four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening and acclaimed British stage and screen actress Sophie Okonedo will also appear in the ensemble, which will once again be led by Branagh as Christie’s moustache-twirling detective, Hercule Poirot.

Comedian Russell Brand, Sex Education actress Emma Mackey and Victoria & Abdul star Ali Fazal round out the first cast announcement, alongside Tom Bateman, who returns as Poirot’s friend Bouc.

Death on the Nile follow’s Branagh’s adaptation of Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, which was a surprise hit in 2017.

As in the last movie, Branagh will direct a script by Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049) as well as taking the starring role.

The film, which Branagh has described as “dangerously sexy”, is currently shooting on location in Egypt.
