Daenerys Targaryen’s home will certainly rise once more: HBO has formally positioned a 10-episode sequence order for a Game of Thrones prequel that might hint the glory days of House Targaryen.
The spinoff, titled House of the Dragon, is co-created by GoT ebook creator George R.R. Martin and Colony creator Ryan J. Condal, and is ready 300 years earlier than the unique Thrones sequence, chronicling “the starting of the finish for House Targaryen.” Martin’s companion ebook Hearth & Blood serves as a template for the new sequence. GoT vet Miguel Sapochnik will direct. Sapochnik and Condal will function co-showrunners
The venture is a transforming of the rejected spinoff idea from Game of Thrones author Bryan Cogman, which formally acquired the axe again in April. (Cogman is now serving as a marketing consultant on Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings adaptation.)
“The Game of Thrones universe is so wealthy with tales,” says Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming, in a press release. “We look ahead to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros together with Miguel, Ryan and George.”
The sequence order for House of the Dragon comes simply hours after information broke that HBO has handed on the much-hyped prequel spinoff starring Naomi Watts as a charismatic socialite hiding a darkish secret. The unique Game of Thrones capped off an eight-season run on HBO again in Might.
