Kristofer Hivju a.k.a. Tormund Giantsbane emerged as one of the most popular actors from Game of Thrones. He managed to hold his own amongst many fine actors on the show and his portrayal of Tormund was a breath of fresh air on the show. He has now moved on to his next assignment Twin, the first look of which was revealed a week ago. Hivju recently spoke to the Winter is coming about Game of Thrones and Jon Snow! Read on.
Hivju will be seen playing a double role in his next series Twin. In the interview, he spoke about how he longed for an emotional and sober character after playing Tormund on Thrones. He said:
“Tormund was a huge character with a Shakespearean kind of style, everything is life and death. This is a totally different genre. I like to challenge myself, to do both is fantastic, but after six years on Thrones it was a pleasure to play a sober, emotional character. I longed for that, and it was a great experience.”
Hivju also got behind the show’s final season and said that he loved it.
“I loved the final season, and I think that there is something organic about the show coming to an end. I think the ending was expected; when you kill a lead character in season one, there won’t be a happy ending. So it fit what made Game of Thrones what it was. It had unexpected twists and turns, it didn’t follow the rules of storytelling, it followed the rules of life. People change, to do good or to do worse. I think, whatever end it had, people would be outraged, or like it, or disagree. That’s the name of the game.”
When asked about what his character Tormund and Jon Snow would be up to now, he replied:
“Both of them have a broken heart, but I think Jon should be glad that Tormund is around,” he added. “I think Tormund is a faster healer and Jon needs help to get out of his depression. I think they are sitting around the fireplace, and Tormund is trying to cheer him up.”
Hivju sure has a point of view and it would be fascinating to see how he goes on about his acting career post-Thrones. Let us know your views in the comments below!
