Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams feels she’s finally able to say goodbye to Arya Stark as she moves her way into comedy.

The actress is about to star alongside Fleabag’s Sian Clifford and Mawaan Rizwan in Sky series Two Weeks To Live, and despite some similarities, it becomes clear quickly her new role is nothing like the feisty young warrior she’s known for.

Speaking to Radio Times about feeling like she’s ‘shaken off’ the responsibility of such a beloved series, Maisie said: ‘Yeah, I really have. I got so much joy out of the final season, and from the show in general.

‘I was really keen to make the most of every second of the final year, because I didn’t want to regret anything, or feel like I’d missed out on anything.

‘For that reason, when we finished, I was really ready to say goodbye.

‘By the end I was just happy that it was done.’

In Two Weeks To Live, Maisie plays Kim, who has grown up off-the-grid with her overprotective mother, Tina (played by Sian Clifford).

Initially running away, she soon finds herself needing her mum’s help when she finds herself in serious danger alongside Nicky (Mawaan Rizwan), after a prank goes wrong and leads them in the path of lethal gangsters.

Creating a mother/daughter bond turned out to be pretty easy for Maisie and Sian, who are both now well known for iconic roles.

‘We’re both at a point in our careers now where people want us to keep doing that,’ Maisie said admitting that there’s similarities between Kim and Arya, as well as Tina’s feisty nature compared to Sian’s Fleabag character, Claire.

‘We chatted a lot about what else there is we want to do,’ Maisie said. ‘I found comfort in that, definitely.

‘Playing an iconic character is such a pleasure. But it also comes with a real fear of never being able to play anything else ever again.’
