Game Of Thrones fans will be able to live out their Westeros fantasies and try the Iron Throne for themselves thanks to a new installation at London’s Leicester Square.

As prequel series House Of The Dragon begins production in the city, the Game Of Thrones team are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original show in style.

A statue of the throne will be unveiled later this summer as part of a brand new ‘Scenes In The Square’ trail, joining statues that were put in place last year, including Harry Potter, Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain, Paddington eating a sandwich on a bench, Batman and Wonder Woman.

The official launch date for the statue is not yet known, but will be the perfect excuse to head back into the heart of London now lockdown has lifted, as it has been confirmed that the piece will remain there until 2023.

Polly Cochrane, WarnerMedia Country Manager for UK and Ireland, said: ‘We are delighted that The Iron Throne will be joining the most iconic characters and actors in entertainment as part of the Scenes in the Square Leicester Square trail.

‘Game of Thrones has been enthralling fans for 10 years and we are excited to continue to share its legacy with everyone as we look forward to the next chapter in the franchise.’

The legacy of the Iron Throne is the foundation on which the entire series was built – with several houses fighting to take a seat and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

It was first forged by Aegon the Conquerer, the first of the Targaryen Kings who unified the Seven Kingdoms.

It is made of the swords of men who had surrendered to him, and melted into a throne with the help of his dragon, Balerion.

During the course of the show, we saw Daenerys fight for her position as she believed she was the rightful heir to the Kingdom.

After going mad with power she eventually made it to the throne, only to be killed by Jon Snow at the foot of it.

House Of The Dragon, based 300 years before the events of the initial series, will follow the Targaryen family and their time as rulers.

The announcement of the statue unveil coincides with the new 4K Ultra HD release of each season of Game of Thrones, the first time in which individual seasons have been available to buy.

All seasons are also available to buy on digital download.

Game Of Thrones airs on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
