The other month, Disney reportedly reprimanded Hollywood golden boy Taika Waititi — the guy behind Thor: RagnarokWhat We Do in the Shadows and a whole lot of exciting upcoming projects — after a few paparazzi pictures came out showing him canoodling with singer Rita Ora and Thor star Tessa Thompson.

Now, you might wonder why pictures of three fully clothed grown adults goofing off in the privacy of one of their homes would cause a fuss, and if so you and I would have something in common. Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Waititi said he never gave the blowback much mind. “I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick,” he mused, accurately. “And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will be “funnier” than Ragnarok

In more meaningful news, Waititi teased his upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, which sounds like it will build on the comic turn the Thor series took in Ragnarok. “I think this might be funnier,” he said. “Everything we did with Ragnarok, we’ve just multiplied it.

Who knows if we do another one after this but I definitely feel like we put everything – every idea and every single ridiculous concept or gag or stunt or character – into this film. I couldn’t be happier with it.

Thor: Love and Thunder — which will feature the hilarious Guardians of the Galaxy in addition to the Thor cast, so you know the talk about it being funnier isn’t idle chatter — is scheduled to come out on May 6, 2022.

After that, who knows what Waititi will turn to? One of the options is a new Star Wars movie he’s in charge of. The details are scarce but Waititi’s involvement is reason enough to get excited. “I hope it’ll be that but there’s a whole lot of other little things that I’ve got my sticky little fingers attached to so we’ll see.”
