Dungeons & Dragons is an amazing pen and paper game, and is something that has always been associated with us nerds. It is not just a great pastime but also enhances your creativity and imagination. But what happens when a bunch of some of the worldâs most famous (and infamous) nerds gather to play a campaign of Dungeons & Dragons? Actor Joe Manganiello recalls one such incident, which also includes Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
Manganiello recently appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers and narrated the incident when he was joined by the Game of Thrones showrunners. He explained how Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello was responsible for D.B. Weiss and David Benioff both joining Manganielloâs home game of Dungeons & Dragons. âTom [Morello] said there was a guy in my kidâs carpool, he wants to play,â Manganiello said. âI said âNah, the groupâs kind of big. Weâre ballooning. I just want to keep it intimate.â And Tom said âHe created Game of Thrones.â
âDan came and played and then he was texting,â Manganiello said. âWhich you donât do while the Dungeon Master is working. I asked âDude, whatâs up?â and [Weiss] said âOh, itâs Dave [Benioff]. He wants to know how many hit points the dragon has.’â Benioff then told Weiss that heâd âdivorce Weiss as a creative partnerâ unless Weiss got Benioff into the Dungeons & Dragons game.â
Manganiello did get a measure of revenge against the pair for pushing their way into his Dungeons & Dragons game. Manganiello noted later in the interview that he actually used the dragons from Game of Thrones against the pair. âMy nephew gave me a bunch of dragons that were Game of Thrones dragons so I would use them to try to kill [Benioff and Weissâs characters.]
