There’s no question about the monopoly Netflix holds in terms of its subscriber base. The boom in the OTT space was led by Netflix, after which many other platforms followed. So, the news of any show or movie surpassing Netflix’s content in terms of viewership and streaming is huge. House of the Dragon season 2 has done the impossible and beaten Netflix’s Bridgerton to claim the top spot in the list of most streamed shows on streaming platforms.
House of the Dragon becomes most viewed show on streaming
June 2024 has been an exciting month for all television show enthusiasts. From House of the Dragon and Bridgerton to The Boys and Star Wars: The Acolyte, many popular shows have premiered on various platforms, fighting for viewers’ attention. In the end, good content and great production value seem to spear ahead of the others.
According to The Wrap, House of the Dragon has beaten all other shows to become the most streamed show on streaming platforms combined. Although the show is still going on, there is more potential for the show to clinch higher streaming numbers. Leaving Bridgerton and The Boys behind, House of the Dragon comfortably sits on top of the list of most streamed shows.
With weekly episodes set to release, there’s little doubt over House of the Dragon remaining at number 1 for the coming few weeks. Nonetheless, Netflix’s dominion is not under question as six of its content pieces have made it into the top 10. Despite House of the Dragon season 2 receiving lower reviews than season 1, showrunners are convinced that the upcoming episodes will get the show back on track. Also, the trend of people wanting to binge the entire season in one go is prohibiting them from tuning in every week. Fans would love to stream the latest season in one go once the season wraps up.
