Two of Westeros’ most memorable rulers are trading dragons and thrones for a bleak new detective story. Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) are headlining a new, untitled Netflix crime thriller from Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, described as a “profoundly serious, stunningly original” four‑part detective series.

A tormented detective hunting a ritual killer
Charlie Brooker’s new show follows a tormented detective from the Northern city of Bleakford, who travels down to London on a desperate mission to stop a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of victims. The official logline promises a grim, atmospheric investigation “containing blood and frowning,” in classic Brooker deadpan, hinting at intense psychological drama with his signature dark humour at the edges.
Considine, Headey, and Georgina Campbell—who previously worked with Brooker on the acclaimed Black Mirror episode “Hang the DJ”—lead the ensemble, marking a prestige genre pairing of two major Thrones alums in a grounded, present‑day thriller rather than fantasy. Plot specifics and character details for each actor are being kept under wraps for now, but the combination of a ritual killer case, a damaged lead detective, and London as a hunting ground signals a muscular, character‑driven crime story.

Charlie Brooker’s next chapter with Netflix
The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, with scripts by Brooker alongside Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier, and Joel Morris, plus additional material from Victoria Asare Archer. Brooker also serves as executive producer with long‑time Black Mirror collaborators Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhoades, while Mark Kinsella is co‑executive producer, Richard Webb produces, and Al Campbell directs.
Netflix is producing the show directly, rather than through a separate UK production banner, following Brooker and Jones’ recent exit from their Netflix‑owned company Broke & Bones after the end of a five‑year, $100M deal. This new detective project is Brooker’s first announced scripted series after Black Mirror season 7, which premiered on Netflix in April 2025, and it suggests he is expanding his brand of dark, satirical genre storytelling beyond anthology format into a more serialized crime narrative.
