While many fans were shocked by the infamous pooping scene in episode 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, star Peter Claffey found it anything but stressful; in fact, he loved filming it.
Quick read:
- Claffey adresses his viral pooping scene from episode 1
- He confessed that comedic scenes like that one are easier to shoot
- He gets more nervous doing dramatic sequences
Fans keep asking about the pooping scene
In an interview with The Playlist, Claffey addressed the scene that quickly went viral: Dunk desperately relieving himself behind a tree right after the opening credits. Viewers often ask if he was nervous about the gross-out moment, expecting it to be embarrassing or awkward for the actor. Claffey’s response was refreshingly honest and humorous:
“People often ask about the pooping scene in episode one and stuff like that. And they’re like, ‘Are you nervous about that?’ And it’s like, ‘That’s stuff I love doing.’”

He laughed as he said it, adding:
“I find that really funny.”
Dramatic scenes were the real challenge
Claffey made it clear that while the pooping scene was light-hearted and comedic for him, the truly nerve-wracking moments came from the show’s bigger dramatic sequences. He specifically mentioned the high-pressure horseback “Braveheart-style” speech during the Trial of Seven as far more intimidating.
For Claffey, physical comedy and awkward situations are enjoyable parts of acting, whereas delivering emotional, high-stakes monologues carries much more weight and anxiety. This contrast highlights how different the experience can be for actors versus viewers.
