Expanding the GOT universe through audio
The move highlights HBO’s continued investment in the Game of Thrones franchise beyond television. With House of the Dragon Season 3 premiering on June 21, 2026, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 in production, the new podcasts are expected to offer fans fresh discussions, behind-the-scenes insights, rewatch commentary, and deep dives into the rich lore of Westeros.

While specific podcast titles and formats have not yet been fully revealed, the initiative aims to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the original series and its spin-offs across European markets.
Strategic timing
The launch comes at a strong moment for the franchise. House of the Dragon continues to be one of HBO’s biggest hits, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been praised for its lighter tone and strong character work. And now, HBO Max even officially operates in the UK, launched recently on March 26. By offering official podcasts, HBO Max is giving international fans more ways to stay connected and discuss the expanding world of Westeros.
