While headlines have focused on George R.R. Martin’s public disagreements with showrunner Ryan Condal, actor Abubakar Salim says the behind‑the‑scenes tension never touched his work. Speaking to Nerdist, Salim laughed off the drama, admitting he wasn’t engaged in the spat at all. For him, the job was about bringing Alyn of Hull to life — a character Martin created with care — and enjoying the collaborative process on Season 3.

Salim distances himself from the spat
Asked about Martin and Condal’s strained relationship, Salim laughed: “Look, I mean, I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know too much about it. I wasn’t really engaged on that front. For me, my job as the actor is essentially to do what has been given to me. And I feel incredibly lucky to be given the character… But yeah, you’re asking the wrong guy.” His comments underline that the behind‑the‑scenes creative disputes didn’t affect his work on set.

Season 3 was “wonderful”
Salim emphasized that his own experience filming Season 3 was positive: “My process of season three was a wonderful one. It was a beautiful one. I had a great time working on it. Ryan is one of the funniest and the most caring [people]. And probably a bigger nerd than I am… It’s pretty amazing how much this guy cares about this show and how much he cares about the people around it.”
