Warner Bros. Discovery has once again confirmed that Aegon’s Conquest is moving forward as a full theatrical feature film set in the Game of Thrones universe.
In a recent update on its future slate, the company stated:
“Beyond 2027, the slate will continue to leverage iconic intellectual property, including the theatrical event film Aegon’s Conquest from the Game of Thrones universe.”
A Major Theatrical Event
The confirmation marks another strong signal that Aegon’s Conquest is being positioned as a significant big-screen event rather than a streaming series. The story, which chronicles Aegon the Conqueror’s invasion of Westeros and the founding of the Targaryen dynasty, has long been viewed by fans as one of the most cinematic chapters in George R.R. Martin’s mythology.
With dragons such as Balerion the Black Dread at the center of the narrative, the material is widely considered ideal for the scale and spectacle of a theatrical release.
