  1. I think Ned shouldn't come back, He died as a very respectable and honourable man and that's one of the very reasons I like him, If he comes back in season 8 he wouldn't be as honourable because he just stood by when the north was enduring such difficulties. The North went to war for Ned Stark. He just wouldn't let it happen.

  2. problem with the theory is that in the books Ned had a flash back to his promise to his sister while in the dungeon awaiting the executioners block. Although this doesn't appear in the show, it is a legitimate indication that this is the real Ned because its an obvious memory of the character as written by George RR Martin.

  3. Ned and Jon are the most honorable man in westeros so honorable that they do stupid things even if those things cost their life. Someone THAT honorable wouldn't just stay hidden after the red wedding. Use your fucking head for once.

  4. Ned is definitely not alive,he would never ever sit hidden somewhere with Howland Reed while his wife and children are murdered, tortured, raped!!All men must die makes more sense than I kept my promise, I know he loved his sister and her last words were promise me, but he has a wife and children now who would be the main worry and concern in his final thoughts.

  5. Why did the producers make sure to include the split second scene of a flock of birds flying overhead just before Ned whispered his last words? Ned saw the birds, then bowed his head & whispered the words….whatever they were.

  6. Feel like Ned should have died fighting the Sword of the morning. He was really playing w/ house money after that. Probably was Ned and not a faceless man, but it's a nice idea that I can't disprove.

  7. I really like this theory.
I think it's possible that Ned Stark is alive, but I don't think it's necessarily plausible. If he has been alive, he has a lot of explaining to do. Why he left his wife and eldest son to walk into their deaths, why he allowed Cersei to keep Sansa as a hostage, why the Boltons were allowed to hold the North…etc.

That being said, there has been a LOT of reference to Ned in S7 – statutes not looking like him, Jon Snow not looking like him, his words about the pack surviving, Sansa and Arya saying they miss him. It seems to be in much greater emphasis than previous seasons. Perhaps that's just me though? There has been no mention of Cat except when confronting Littlefinger with allegations.

But then Bran is basically a walking CCTV camera with global coverage…so?

I think what's more likely is that the faceless man really is the faceless man, who will come back – probably to join Arya, or to kill her – wearing Ned's face.

  8. Wasn't there something about him thinking he wished he could have talked to Jon first? I went back and read it and I don't seem to recall him actually saying anything at the end there but I might be missing something.

  9. Wow. That's a lot to digest. It is possible it was a faceless man – it's the world of Ice and Fire after all! But I think he might have whispered "I'm sorry Aegon" because he didn't get to tell him his true parentage.

  10. If Ned is alive it'd have to be in a way where he influenced events up to this point still. I just don't see him as the kind of guy to do nothing and hide. After all his sister's kid has already come back from death so why hide
