Forget winter – a brand new line of Game of Thrones whiskies is coming. HBO and Diageo have teamed up to release a line of single malt scotch whiskies, ideal for drowning your sorrows when the final season rolls around.

With eight different whiskies – each themed after a GoT house – you can pledge your allegiance to the Starks, Targaryens or even the Lannisters over a tumbler or two.

The line is a limited collection to celebrate season eight, which will drop on 14th April. Luckily, you won’t have to wait that long to get your hands on the whiskies, which are now available for pre-order on Amazon to arrive on 19th February. (Right in time for your mandatory Game of Thrones re-viewing party.)

The whiskies have been chosen to match the characteristics of each Thrones house, with House Stark’s edition distilled in a cold, remote setting to match Winterfell and the seafaring House Greyjoy’s version bringing maritime flavours to the forefront. Priced between £38 and £65, there’s a wide range available, including House Stark, House Tully, House Lannister, House Baratheon, House Tyrell and an all-black Night’s Watch version.

The new range of Game of Thrones scotch whiskies

Each bottle comes in a protective case decorated with the fictional house’s sigil, which is also repeated on the bottle’s label.

If you’re one of those people who just wants to watch Westeros burn – or rather, freeze – Johnnie Walker released a White Walker-themed whisky last year (unsurprisingly, they ran with the name White Walker by Johnnie Walker)

House Stark – Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Everybody’s favourite house has a whisky made in Dalwhinnie, a Scottish distillery that’s as cold and wintery as Winterfell. Sweet yet spicy, it’s best served chilled or over ice.

The Night’s Watch – Oban Little Bay Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The black bottle is a nod to the uniform of the Night’s Watch. As the barrier that separates Westeros from beyond The Wall, they chose a distillery that straddles land and sea – Oban Bay, which is on a sheer cliff. Tasting notes? Woody and spicy.

House Targaryen – Cardhu Gold Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

In our opinion, this bottle has the best backstory on the list. The whisky is a nod to Daenerys Targaryen and as such, it was made in a distillery which was groundbreaking in the 1800s for being led by women. In a male-dominated industry, Helen Cumming and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth established a thriving distillery.

House Lannister – Lagavulin 9 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Lannisters’ reputation precedes them and the same goes for Lagavulin. According to Diageo, it was crafted with “meticulous calculation and tenacity” and this smoky mix has notes of caramelized banana, heavy vanilla, burnt marshmallow and salted caramel.

House Baratheon – Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

We’re not holding our breath that Gendry will snag the Iron Throne, but as one of the few Baratheons left we can’t help but root for an underdog. This whisky draws on the Baratheon’s royal lineage (RIP King Robert Baratheon), as the distillery was bestowed a Royal Warant after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert fell in love with it.

House Greyjoy – Talisker Select Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The seafaring Greyjoys have found their whisky in the Talisker distillery, which is appropriately located right by the sea. It’s one of the more interesting whiskies on the list, combining peppery smoke, dark chocolate, salted caramel, leather and chilli flake notes for a rich experience.

House Tully – The Singleton of Glendullan Select Single Malt Scotch Whisky

In homage to the riverside Tully seat, this whisky is made at a river distillery which is powered by a water wheel. With notes of orange, clove, red berry compote and even vanilla cheesecake, it’s apparently best sipped cold.

House Tyrell – Clynelish Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The likes of Margaery, Olenna and Loras Tyrell called the emerald landscape of the Reach their home, a thriving part of Westeros renowned for its gorgeous landscapes and fertile farmlands. This light whisky has a distinctly floral taste – perhaps a nod to the late Knight of Flowers – and is crafted in Clynelish, a place teeming with countryside greenery.

White Walker Limited Edition Scotch Whisky

Released last year, this special Johnnie Walker whisky is themed around the creepy frosted-over denizens from beyond the wall. With notes of vanilla, fresh berries and caramelized sugar, the Johnnie Walker whisky is apparently best drunk right out of the freezer – just the way a White Walker would like it…
