Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) is among several Game of Thrones stars nominated for Emmys for their work on the eighth and final season of the show. Really, Game of Thrones cleaned up this year, and we can only imagine what a potential sweep could like like come September 22. But it’s especially meaningful for people like Allen, who’s never gotten an Emmy nom before.
Naturally, Allen is excited about the nomination. So is his sister, pop star Lily Allen, who expressed herself on Instagram Stories, the self-destructing message machine of the internet:
Aw.
Anyway, it’s not too surprising that a big sister is proud of her little brother. Really, this lead-in is an excuse to dig up Lily’s song “Alfie” from way back in 2008, where she lambasts her brother for being a pot-smoking slacker. He even appears as an incredibly unflattering puppet in the video:
Oh, Alfie get up it’s a brand-new day/ I just can’t sit back and watch you waste your life away.
You need to get a job because the bills need to get paid/ Get off your lazy arse/ Alfie, please use your brain.
Check and check. A lot changes in 10 years. Also, just putting it out there: if Alfie wins the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, they should play this song as his walk-on music.
