Big-budget Targaryen spinoff on the horizon

The news about the new Targaryen spinoff comes from an interview with Francesca Orsi, EVP and Head of Drama, HBO Programming who spoke to Deadline. Orsi revealed that while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will remain a smaller-scale, intimate production, there are other projects in the works that will involve a much larger budget.
Orsi, who is known for overseeing the development and production of major series like House of the Dragon, emphasized that these upcoming spinoffs will have grander budgets and larger stories to tell. While she didn’t go into detail about the project, it’s widely speculated that the show she’s referring to is the Aegon’s Conquest prequel, based on updates from The Batman writer Matson Tomlin, who has been working on it and has shared multiple updates.
The announcement has stirred anticipation among fans, especially given that Aegon’s Conquest holds immense potential for epic battles and political intrigue. With Tomlin’s involvement, the show is likely to attract even more attention, as it promises to delve deep into the Targaryen family history, exploring Aegon’s rise to power and his conquest of Westeros.
