Abubakar Salim, who plays Alyn of Hull in House of the Dragon, has shared heartfelt praise for his on-screen father Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon). He described him as an incredible scene partner and an even better human being.
In a recent interview with Nerdist, Salim opened up about what it’s like working with Toussaint, especially during their emotionally charged father-son scenes in Season 3.

When asked about filming intimate and intense scenes with the veteran actor, Salim didn’t hold back:
“Oh, it’s phenomenal. I’ve learned so much from just being on set and seeing him both behind camera and on camera. He is one of the loveliest, most brilliant and passionate human beings I’ve ever met. And when that camera turns on and brings the game in, it’s always just amazing to see. I have so much time for Steve.”

A welcoming presence on a massive show
Joining a giant production like House of the Dragon can be intimidating, especially as a newer cast member. Salim admitted it was “daunting and quite terrifying” at first:
“It is very daunting and quite terrifying to come on such a huge show not really knowing many people. It’s always the first time. The first time’s always tricky because you don’t know anyone, you’re learning about the dynamics of the show, you’re learning about different kinds of friendship groups and whatever.”
Thankfully, Steve Toussaint made the transition much easier:
“And Steve made me feel like I had been there from the beginning. That’s such a powerful testament to who he is as a person that I wish to carry that on whenever I do productions and shows. Making other people feel that way, because the way he makes me feel makes me feel as if I could do anything.”
