It’s a harsh truth that Game of Thrones is coming to an end within the next six months. All cast members are moving ahead in their careers some getting a haircut, some joining the cast of new TV series, and others busy attending a family wedding. And, so is Charles Dance – the 72-year-old actor who once played the role of Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.

Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) says he would love to return for a Game of Thrones prequel

The latest we’ve heard about him is that he has joined the cast of the much-anticipated TV series on Netflix ‘The Crown’. He will be joining the series from the third season and playing the role of Lord Louis Mountbatten – the favourite great-uncle of Prince Charles, played by Josh O’Connor. Some pictures of him on the sets surfaced on the internet fueling up the news a bit more and prove that the duo will be sharing a lot of screentime together this season.

As revealed by the Telegraph, Dance will be involved a lot not only with the storyline of Prince Charles but also his arc of affection towards young Camilla. The third season will mainly focus on Queen Elizabeth II’s reign in the 60s and 70s and how these youngsters became close and later a couple.

Their relationship eventually ends with the Prince travelling overseas to join the Royal Army. But, some speculate that Lord Mountbatten had a huge role to play in ending their relationship so that the Prince could ultimately wed his granddaughter. Will the new season touch this major plot point?

The last we saw of Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones was in Season 4 during Tyrion Lannister’s escape from the black cells. Tyrion after his escape goes to confront Shae – whom he sees, much to surprise lying in his father’s bed. After killing her, he goes to confront his father with a crossbow in his hand. He finds Tywin in the privy and angrily fires two bolts, thus killing him.

The new season of Game of Thrones airs in 2019 and so does the Crown and like the former much is expected from the new season of the Crown too! Will Charles Dance be able to prove ‘the Lion’s Legacy’ in the Crown too? Tell us in the comments.
