13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford has said her new high-fantasy show Cursed is unlike Game of Thrones or The Witcher.
Katherine stars in the new Netflix project as Nimue, in a revisionist re-telling of the legend of King Arthur.
But, she says that whilst the show does share some DNA with other popular fantasy projects, the aim is to create something entirely new.
‘I get asked quite a lot by fans and people who love this genre, What it’s like? I’m still trying to figure out,’ she told Digital Spy and other outlets.
‘ I definitely think it’s a fantastical and historical piece, which is full of action and is a full-on thriller. But it also has quite a grounded quality to it.’
The Knives Out star says that, ultimately, ‘it’s not quite one or the other. It’s a mixture of its own elements and it stands by itself.’
Cursed seeks to put a new spin on an age-old story, as Nimue (Langford) sets out to find the wizard Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgard) and deliver to him the sword Excalibur.
We’ve already seen her in action, in the action-packed first-look trailer which will whet your appetite for more.
Elsewhere, Cursed is seemingly to blame for Langford’s noted absence in the final season of 13 Reasons Why.
Despite her star-making turn as the doomed Hannah Baker, the actress could not return for her characters’ appearance in the finale, which had to be achieved via old footage.
Cursed drops 17 July on Netflix.
