HBO casts an iconic Targaryen on House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones vet joins The Wheel of Time, and more! It’s a packed week on Take the Black Live.
Each week on Take the Black Live, we break down some of the biggest nerdy news items of the week, and there were some juicy ones this go-around.
We start with the news that HBO is (allegedly) casting Daemon Targaryen for House of the Dragon, its Game of Thrones prequel show (3:47). He’s a hugely important character; let’s get to know him.
In other Westeros news, Fire & Blood — the book on which House of the Dragon is based — is now out in paperback, and George R.R. Martin gives us a brief update on The Winds of Winter (15:37). Then we dive into some news about Amazon’s The Wheel of Time show, which just picked up a Game of Thrones veteran (19:36). After that, we briefly hit the new Star Wars holiday special on the way (25:44) before talking about the series premiere of Lovecraft Country (29:47) looking forward to Enola Holmes (36:48), and briefly reviewing Project Power on Netflix (39:49)
Oh, and I’m in my closet because we’re trying to see if we can improve the sound quality. Take the Black Live isn’t just a talk show; it’s a laboratory.
