Ed Sheeran has explained that he doesn’t like using urinals, and he has a very good reason why.

The Shape Of You singer admitted that, as a celebrity, people will sometimes disrespect boundaries that you wouldn’t dream of with a regular, non-famous person.

These crucial boundaries include standing away from others at urinals, and, more importantly, not looking at their penis.

Ed, speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast, revealed that people can’t help but stand right beside him and ‘have a look’ while he’s trying to do his business, and he that he avoids urinals as a result.

The Shivers chart-topper was brought on to the subject while discussing his cameo on Game Of Thrones, when he revealed he had his own awkward encounters with the show’s stars in a urinal.

‘I met Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) both in urinals’, he told the podcast hosts.

‘Did you steal a peek?’ presenter Dax Shepard asked, to which Ed promptly replied ‘No!’

Ed explained: ‘You’re there [at the urinal] and you’re like, “Oh my God, this is kind of awkward, I’m next to Jon Snow”, not knowing that he’s also thinking “Oh my God, this is kind of awkward”!’

Dax, speaking about Kit’s character in Game of Thrones, said he was blown away by his ‘physique’ in the show’s ‘love-making’ scenes, and that he had some of the ‘best buns, male or female’ that he had ever seen.

He admitted: ‘If I was at a urinal … my prediction is that his penis is so pretty.’

Ed then brought up his own issues with urinals, saying: ‘My rule, usually, is that I don’t go to urinals.

‘There will be 20 urinals, and I’ll stand at an end one, and someone will come up right next to me just to have a look.

‘So my rule is I usually don’t but this was a place where I think someone was in the bathroom doing drugs [so I couldn’t use the cubicle].’

Ed, 30, has been a megastar for over a decade now, but seemingly still finds the fame quite intense.

He told the hosts that returning home to his wife Cherry Seaborn and baby daughter Lyra feels like putting on Spider-Man’s costume, as he isn’t treated like a celebrity in the Suffolk town where they both grew up.

The Grammy award-winner welcomed his first child in September last year, months after announcing he would be semi-retiring after being on tour for almost two years straight.

Ed has returned with a bang this year however, with the release of his new album, =, multiple singles topping the charts, and performing on stage with Coldplay.

Last week the musician was forced to slow down once again, however, as he tested positive for Covid-19 two days before his album was released.
