The cast members of Game of Thrones took a break from filming Season 7 for the holidays, but it looks like they’re back to work for the new year. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was recently spotted flying into Belfast, long the show’s production hub…

…and then, today, she posted a quick video of herself wearing her Daenerys Targaryen wig.

#FirstDayBackInThePretendRealWorld. Clarke always has fun with her hastags. In any case, it looks like shooting has recommenced. I hope everyone enjoyed their time off.

This is the first time in the history of Game of Thrones that the show will shoot material for a new season in the same year as that season will air—previously, all the filming was wrapped up by December. This year, the production wanted to wait so it could shoot in naturally snowy conditions, the better to capture the realness of the winter that has finally come to Westeros. That means Game of Thrones Season 7 won’t come out until later than usual—summer of 2017—but we appreciate that the production is going for realism.

Over the last couple of months, we got a gander at what the Game of Thrones production was doing as it filmed on flashy outdoor locations in Spain and Northern Ireland. There’ll probably be less of that in few months of filming remaining—we foresee a lot of indoor stuff filmed on set at Titanic Studios in Belfast. However, there have been indications that the show will shoot outdoors in Iceland at some point. After all, what’s the point of waiting to film in the snow if you don’t…film in the snow?

This is apropos of very little, but keeping with the theme of being outdoors in the snow, here’s a brief clip posted by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) of his adorable dog adorably shaking off snow in an adorable fashion.

Winter is here.

“Winter is here.” Indeed.

Finally, how would Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne) sum up 2017 in three words?

We’ll be watching for specifics.
