House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 6 marked the final appearance of Fabien Frankel’s Ser Criston Cole. In an interview on the Official Game of Thrones Podcast, Frankel admitted to having imposter syndrome when he first started doing the show.

Fabien Frankel’s Criston Cole dies in battle as he had claimed that he would. Over the past three seasons, the character developed significantly. As for the actor, he felt far less nervous filming this season than he did when he was doing the first.
When podcast host Greta Johnsen mentioned that Frankel was “freaked out” when they talked about season 1 four years ago, he admitted that he was. He said, “I was, and I felt less that way this time around. I mean, I still felt nervous going into two, but I don’t… Certainly going into season three, I didn’t feel the same level of nerves.”

Frankel explained that not being nervous is liberating in a way because it is important to convince the audience that the actor does not care. He also said that it “takes a lot of hard work” to get to that point.

Elsewhere, podcast host Jason Concepcion asked Fabien Frankel how he would memorialize Criston Cole. The actor replied, “I think I’d say he’s someone who has made a lot of bad decisions, but he’s someone who feels. I don’t think he’s someone who doesn’t feel. And as an actor to have gotten to play that part, not that this is so much Cole’s eulogy or anything, but you know, that was a joy for me.”
He further stated that he enjoyed playing a character that had faith in himself despite his wrongdoings. He also said that while he realised why people did not like Cole, he never saw the character that way.
