He watches as a fan
In his words,
“I don’t go back and watch it immediately before [filming], but… I guess you watch it as a fan when it’s out.”

He admitted that while he uses costumes, scripts, and other methods to get back into character on set, he mostly enjoys the show like any other audience member once the episodes are released.
Gratitude for the franchise
Frankel went on to express how special the experience has been for him:
“It’s very rare that you get to make a show like this. We’ll probably go the rest of our careers and never make anything that has this kind of global fan base… I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of this show.”
He also opened up about his long-standing love for the Game of Thrones universe:
“I was a fan of Game of Thrones, I’m a fan of House of the Dragon, and we’ll be fans long in the future, I’m sure.”
A true superfan on screen
Frankel’s comments highlight how much he values the opportunity to be part of such a massive cultural phenomenon. His genuine fandom comes across clearly, making his performance as the conflicted Ser Criston Cole even more interesting to watch.
