Facebook is considering the possibility of streaming shows like Game Of Thrones through the platform, according to reports.

While the social media site already dominates 21st century habitual life, Facebook is reportedly exploring the idea of launching a new pay TV service on its Facebook Watch video hub.

According to Recode, the company is hoping to pay networks like HBO and Showtime to sell their shows on their platform, saying they’ve been ‘discussing deals with HBO and others for months and would like to launch the product in the first half of 2019’.

If these claims are true, this would nicely coincide with one of the biggest TV events of next year – the eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones in April.

It certainly makes sense for the company to rival other streaming services like Amazon Prime, considering their staggering amount of users who would likely be easily pushed into having their TV viewing habits and social circles in the same place.

Facebook’s reputation, however, isn’t exactly in prime position – following numerous scandals in recent months over privacy and operational issues.

So would you want to trust an already questionable outlet with your dirty secret Mrs Brown’s Boys binge? It’s a risky one.

If you’re excited about the final season of Game Of Thrones, however, Gwendoline Christie has recently stated it might leave you in therapy. Lovely.
