Game of Thrones had a knack for creating detestable villains. The HBO fantasy drama series featured more than just generic, moustache twirling evil-doers who audiences loved to hate. Some of the show’s villains genuinely made fans angry with their misdeeds every time they appeared on screen.

Game of Thrones gained fame (or infamy, depending on your perspective) for killing off characters nearly every week. Even leading characters like Ned, Catelyn, or Robb Stark, as well as fan favourites like Khal Drogo, Oberyn Martell, or Hodor, ultimately found themselves on the wrong side of a sword, breaking fans’ hearts.

However, frustrating as Game of Thrones’ relentless killing of characters may have been, it meant that several of the aforementioned detestable villains met their fate. Watching an evil character fall led to some of the most satisfying moments in the whole show, inviting viewers to clap, cheer, and pump their fists in celebration at the screen.

Though some of the show’s truly terrible villains ultimately avoided their fates, while others died disappointingly, Game of Thrones often rewarded the audience’s patience by killing off one of its worst bad guys so perfectly.
