'When's it gonna get here?' – It always astounds me how many people don't get what 'Winter is Coming' actually means. While the actual season of winter is gradually approaching (such is the nature of Westeros that seasons span a varying number of years, if not decades, as opposed to 3 months each), that typically isn't what the characters are referring to when they say it. It just means 'There are hard and dangerous times ahead and we need to be ready for them'. When Ned said it, he was subconsciously predicting the war between the Starks and Lannisters (a 'winter' that has now come and gone). When Jon says it now, he's most likely talking about the White Walkers becoming more of a problem.
